The British Mountaineering Council and Helping Hand Environmental are excited be working alongside YHA to launch Hills 2 Oceans litter picking hubs at some of their key hostels across England and Wales, to encourage the hill walking and climbing community to help remove mountains of waste.
Hills 2 Oceans is calling on everyone to get involved in a litter pick to help remove as much litter and plastic from our hills, mountains and crags as possible, so it doesn’t end up in our oceans.
By providing free litter picking equipment (reusable bags, folding pickers and litter picking guidance) at participating hostels, visitors will be able to use these when they are out and about in the great outdoors, helping to protect and preserve our natural environment and tackle local litter which has become a more noticeable problem since Covid.
The YHA participating hostels include:
- YHA Ambleside
- YHA Berwick
- YHA Broad Haven
- YHA Borrowdale
- YHA Keswick
- YHA Coniston Holly How
- YHA New Forest
- YHA National Forest
- YHA Castleton Losehill Hall
- YHA South Downs
- YHA Ironbridge Coalport
- YHA Whitby
- YHA Okehampton
