Cleaner Streets and Community Engagement are two key objectives within the borough of Dudley, in the West Midlands.
After looking in to the market for a litter segregations carts; invaluable time was spent with the Helping Hand Environmental team testing the Handicart and Street Boss carts as the council were after a particular system which could:
- Support easier manual handling and increase productivity amongst their older workforce and female operatives who struggled to use heavier barrows.
- Create a complete community clean up kit which could be loaned out to local volunteers in support of local campaigns and encouraging the segregation of roadside litter at source.
Dudley Council quantified the financial value of their volunteers’ time using Helping Hand equipment to be £504,240!
The council’s investment in sustainable products – providing the right tools to engage with local volunteers; supported the borough’s Street Cleansing team with extra voluntary manpower in helping to keep their borough clean and tidy.
“We are most pleased with Handicart, for our staff and community volunteers. These cart’s have made litter picking much easier, increased collection capacity and overall productivity. The cart’s always scored high for ease of use, very light and fully manoeuvrable on any type of terrain. Excellent products which I would highly recommend to anyone”
