Cleaning up busy streets with parked cars, cobbled, pedestrianized areas, schools and green spaces is a challenge for any city.
When operatives are out most of the day the task becomes even greater over the tourist period. This is exactly the challenge that Oxford City Council faced when they reviewed their cleansing needs.
Testing the Street Boss, 2‐bag litter collection system to segregate litter and recyclable waste at street level. Used by the city’s cleansing and green space operatives ‘’The time spent using the Street Boss allowed us to see that not only were they fool-proof, they had all the flexibility and litter retention capacity that we required. The push and go function allows us to collect litter whilst on the move whilst the removable bag holders means we can access more refined spaces to collect litter but still have the cart available to transport the weight of the bag and our tools if required. The carts are also 50% lighter and more compact than more conventional ones making them a lot more comfortable to use and easier to transport and store.
It’s capacity to carry a small selection of tools enables the operative to address, detritus, sharps, broken glass, dog fouling – increasing productivity and reducing workload placed on the separate City response teams that currently have to deal with it”.
